To obtain a driver’s medical certificate, you must attend an in-person appointment
The doctor will review your medical history, assess your current condition, and evaluate whether any chronic illnesses may affect your ability to drive. This assessment cannot be performed remotely. Our clinic is conveniently located in Helsinki, right next to the Ruoholahti metro station.

You must personally submit the medical certificate to Traficom
We do not send medical certificates electronically to Traficom or the police. You must submit them yourself in paper form.
You must provide the medical certificate to the police if it concerns a scheduled health monitoring check for a driver.

When is an extended medical certificate required?
Group 1 (AM/120, AM/121, T, A1, A2, A, B, BE)
- An extended medical certificate is required if you are renewing your driver’s license after the age of 70
Group 2 (C1, C1E, C, CE, D1, D1E, D, DE)
- An extended medical certificate is required if you are renewing your driver’s license and you are 68 years old or older
